Matthew has done extensive doctoral research on how arts participation at the community level can be "a silver bullet" for many of the challenges faced especially in rural communities. From lowering health care costs and increasing civic engagement to improving educational opportunities for children\, Matthew will discuss the benefits of participation in the arts\, especially in terms of economic development.\n\n\n\nMatthew has performed as a classical vocalist with organizations such as the New Jersey State Opera\, New York Oratorio Society\, William Hall Master Chorale\, the Los Angeles Master Chorale\, the Opera Orchestra of Los Angeles\, and Portland Pro Musica. Matthew is currently completing his Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting.
