SUMMARY:Monthly Lunch featuring Calvin W. Goings RSVP NOW!
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE RESERVE YOUR SPOT TODAY \n\nMeet a member of the Obama Administration - and get the word firsthand on how several national initiatives will affect small business -- locally. We're expecting a big crowd and would appreciate your RSVP. Thank you!\n\n \n\n\n \n\n"Leveling the Playing Field for Small Business"\n\nCalvin W. Goings\, Regional Administrator\, U.S. Small Business Administration\n\n\nThe focus at SBA is to help small business start\, grow\, and succeed. Today\, more than half of working Americans either own or work for a small business\, and small businesses have created about 65% of net new jobs for the past 15 years. Small businesses are the drivers of innovation and competitiveness and they're the key to the long-term growth of our economy. Calvin W. Going's role is to oversee President Obama's small business programs and initiatives in Washington\, Oregon\, Idaho and Alaska.\n\n\n\nJoin us for this important luncheon as Mr. Going's presents several national initiatives that have a direct local impact. One such program is Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) where small businesses can compete with larger ones to bring their new ideas and technology to the federal government. Another is Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) where small businesses partner with non-profits. These two programs help "level the playing field" for small business. Mr. Goings will share examples of small businesses who have benefited from these programs.\n\n \n\nPrior to joining the Obama Administration in his current role\, Mr. Goings served in key executive positions with the Washington Credit Union League\, working as Senior Advisor to the President\, and as the Executive Director of the League's Foundation. Before his work in the private sector\, he served in elected office for nearly two decades in local government and as a Washington State Senator. \n\n \n\nSpecial thanks to this month's luncheon sponsor ...\n\n\n\nHaven in Allyn Home Care/Assisted Living
