Mason County is unique in that it hosts two public utility districts\, Mason PUD 1 and PUD 3. Joel Myer of PUD 3 will discuss successes in innovation and technology\, as well as challenges electric utilities encounter in the era of new power sources\, conservation\, protecting Pacific Northwest hydropower\, and increased regulations from state and federal governments.\n\n \n\nJoel Myer is the public information & government relations manager at Mason PUD 3. He edits a widely distributed daily news digest of utility related news focused on Pacific Northwest energy issues. He has worked on municipal utility issues and served a record setting term\, for the shortest in Washington State history\, as a county commissioner. Joel is a graduate of the Evergreen State College in Olympia\, where his focus of study was economics.
