SUMMARY:TIME CHANGE: Scholarship Breakfast Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Good morning\, everyone - Join us for this important breakfast!\n\nThere there will be an earthquake drill at the school at 10:18am. SO... in hopes we can all clear the way\, we have changed this event to 8:30am. Thank you! \n\n\n\nEmail: stephanie@northmasonchamber.com\n\n\n\nNorth Mason Chamber\n\nAnnual Scholarship Breakfast Fundraiser\n\nThursday\, October 18\, 9-10am | North Mason High School\n\nfeaturing keynote presenter ...\n\nSytease Geib\, Vice President Workforce Development\n\nThurston County Chamber of Commerce\n\n"Learn How to Attract and Retain Top Talent" \n\n\nRSVP NOW for this inspiring breakfast when we have an opportunity - not only to raise money for our scholarship\, but to hear from the students themselves. This is a bit different than any of our other events. The cost is $25 for anyone who would like to attend. We encourage businesses to sponsor a student attendee. Last year\, student sponsorships allowed 10 DECA students to attend\, and it was a rich experience for the businesses attending as well as the students. This is a perfect chance for them to see how chambers of commerce work in our communities. Your sponsorship will be acknowledged on the event program and in our newsletter.\n\n\n\nEven if you do not know the name of the student\, we can pool your donation with others so that more students can attend\, and add your business name to our list of sponsors for this event. Questions? Please call Stephanie at 360-275-4267\, ext. 3. We will also have a keynote presenter\, to be announced at a later date. Thank you!\n\n\n\nCatered by Wild & Woodsy Catering\, Heather Simeral\n\n_________________________________________________________________________\n\nMORE ABOUT OUR TOPIC: During and after the Great Recession\, employers could be picky about who they hired because unemployment was high and job openings were scarce. In addition\, they could raise job application requirements like asking for a college degree\, even if the job didn't necessarily require one. \n\n \n\nToday\, that is no longer the case. According to the Labor Department\, there were 6 million open jobs in the United States in April. Unemployment is the lowest it has been since 2007. This is great news for workers. Employers are ready to hire and they may pay more to recruit top talent. However\, for business owners and employers\, this worker shortage environment means that skilled employees may shop around for a better job with better pay and benefits. \n\n \n\nHow can employers recruit and retain their talent? What steps can employers take today to better prepare youth and our future workforce for local opportunities? Learn how you can attract and retain the talent you need for business success at this important event. We'll share best practices from local employers who are retaining top talent. Learn about upskilling\, training\, mentoring and how to diversify your workforce. Finally\, learn why investing in workforce development today will reap benefits in the years to come.
